In the 1960s, NASA developed silver-zinc batteries for use in the Apollo program; they were powerful and posed no danger of combustion. But they had too short of a cycle life for commercial application. ZPower was founded in 1996 for one specific purpose: To unlock the full potential of this powerful chemistry and help proliferate the world with a better battery technology. We’ve made significant strides — and today silver-zinc stands as the first viable alternative miniature battery power option since Li-ion appeared in the 1990s.

From the outset, our company was guided by a spirit of innovation. The early silver-zinc batteries, while showing great potential, were a long way from meeting the size, power and rechargeability requirements of today’s manufacturers.
