Polyimide and PI Glide™ Tubing And Coated Wire
Polyimide (PI) and PI Glide™ are thin-walled tubing and coated wire products that do not require the performance of fluoropolymers. PI and PI Glide™ can be provided in extremely fine layers to help keep device size to a minimum. For increased lubricity, PI Glide™ is created as a composite with PTFE yet still retains enough of its preferred mechanical properties while remaining bondable. Both PI and PI Glide™ tubing can be layered to tailor properties to best fit the application. PI and PI Glide™ products are excellent complements to Zeus’ other catheter components allowing customers to consolidate their suppliers to a single source.

Catheter Tie Layer
Zeus’ Tie Layer addresses delamination concerns inherent in catheter construction. This polymer product is applied over the catheter base liner and aids the jacket reflow process during catheter construction. As the jacket is melted and reflowed, the jacket and tie layer flow through the catheter braiding to create a new stronger bond to each other and to the jacket than with just a jacket alone. Zeus’ tie layer increases the liner-to-jacket bond strength by at least 2 1/2× compared to catheters made without a tie layer. Adding a tie layer improves mechanical consistency of the catheter and reduces the risks associated with delamination. Tie Layer is also an excellent match for our StreamLiner™ Series of PTFE base liners – the thinnest liners in the industry – allowing you to complete your catheter construction with Zeus.

Bioweb™ Composites
Zeus has been extruding PTFE for our medical customers for more than 50 years. We have taken this expertise to new dimensions with our Bioweb™ Composites. This innovative non-woven material is produced from electrospun PTFE creating a new kind of biocompatible fabric. Bioweb™ possesses improved dimensional stability compared to similar products, and it is particularly suited to medical applications because of its nearly inert chemical reactivity within the body. Bioweb™ composites have high surface-to-weight and volume ratios yet maintain exceptional mechanical properties. Bioweb™ can be used to cover a variety of 3-D substrates and other implantable structures and will not degrade metal stent frameworks. Bioweb™ is available license-free from Zeus through a technology transfer agreement allowing you to cover your own implantable structures.

FluoroPEELZ® Peelable Heat Shrink
Catheter construction is a delicate process that leaves no room for error. The last step of removing the recovered heat shrink from over the outer catheter shaft is often the most critical and laborious. FluoroPEELZ® brings simplicity to this complex process. With FluoroPEELZ®, the final step becomes quick, easy, and safer! With a simple linear tear, operators can quickly and evenly peel away FluoroPEELZ® from the recovered shaft. This heat shrink can be used for sizes as small as 2 Fr up to 34 Fr. FluoroPEELZ® excels in neurovascular and other critical small diameter catheter applications used over low durometer jackets such as Pebax® and nylons.

Zeus has been providing high performance polymer extrusions to the medical community for more than 50 years. We offer more than just catheter components for our medical customers. Addressing an enduring need, Zeus Aeos™ ePTFE Suture Monofilament (ASM) is a permanently implantable material that can be swaged onto needles up to a 1:1 needle-to-suture ratio. Provided unlicensed, ASM allows surgeons to create their own suture lines and raise their brand awareness while they raise their level of patient care. Similarly, Zeus Bioweb™ composites are a biocompatible non-woven microporous material produced from electrospun PTFE. Bioweb™ is designed for implantable applications. This product can attain thinner profiles than ePTFE making Bioweb™ preferred for small vasculatures. Bioweb™ can be used for encapsulations, stent coverings, coatings for 3-D substrates, and a variety of other applications. Bioweb™ is available license-free through a technology transfer agreement allowing you to cover your own stents or other implantable devices.
