MAK Techno is the largest hospital bed manufacturer in Indonesia, Studio Mango was requested by MAK to design & engineer their new hospital bed. As a market leader producing 60.000 beds annually for the domestic market MAK has everything in house to become a global player. The only missing link was a worldclass product which could match rivalling manufacturers from Japan, the USA and Europe on the international market place.

Studio Mango managed the complete project from concept design until prototyping, often with one of our team members on location in Indonesia to ensure a speedy delivery and short communication lines. The resulting Infinity bed is a great leap forward for MAK in technology, ergonomics and aesthetics making them ready to take on the international competition.

VICAIR
Vicair is one of the world market leaders in anti-decubitus pillows and mattresses, which prevent pressure wounds in bedded patients and wheelchair bound people. Ergo therapists have relied for decades on pressure mapping to form their diagnosis; but friction is a far larger cause of the wounds. Vicair had worked with research institutions, professors and universities to be able to measure shear force between the patients bottom and their sitting surface. When Studio Mango was contacted, there was a very expensive chair which could do some measurements.

Studio Mango came with a solution which proved to enable the measurements our client wanted and much more!! When the first prototypes were sent to therapists for testing, they loved how they could get this great insight easily and that they were able to measure the patients in their own wheelchairs. For this project Studio Mango engineered all electronics, housings and developed the app, which gives the therapists and patients real time insight in how much friction they experience and in which directions. This enables therapist to adjust pillows or provide better ones on the spot and enable much improved comfort and prevent “pressure” wounds in their patients.

CEEGRID SENSOR ADAPTER

In 1924, almost 100 years ago, Hans Berger discovered that brain electrical activity can be non-invasively recorded from the human head by placing sensors on the scalp. Today, multi-channel electroencephalography (EEG) is well established in neuroscience research and clinical applications, typically requiring an elastic cap or net to hold the sensors in place. In addition, a conductive paste or gel is necessary to bridge between the electrode and skin.

Twente Medical Solutions International or TMSI for short is one the world’s market leaders in this field which continuously pushes the boundaries of what is possible and a regular client of Studio Mango. Together with the brilliant engineers and scientists of TMSI Studio Mango was integrally working on the cEEGrid project which aim was to enable unobtrusive EEG acquisition. In other words create a system which is less time consuming to use, avoids discomforts whilst wearing, limits the use of gel and is less obvious then EEG-caps and thus not distracting in real-life situations.
