Laser Surface Restructuring
Recognizing a market need for a scalable alternative to vacuum coatings, Pulse innovated electrode performance using state-of-the-art laser technology. In our patented laser surface restructuring process, extremely high energy pulses bombard the surface for durations of less than the phonon transfer time of the material, rearranging the surface structure without the need for heat.

Product category: Surface coating
Biorhythm Coatings
Pulse Advanced Coating Technology (PACT) was developed in response to a client market that was reaching capacity limits and facing capital expenditure increases. By developing a highly manufacturable new coating, we could provide clients a 100% increase in throughput and reliability while allowing them to rapidly adjust components without creating issues of capital investment or floor space.

Using a novel plasma technique, Pulse is able to precisely control the surface features of the coating. These surface features in turn can be tuned for your device and application.

Custom Implant Alloys
Pulse began developing alloys in 2007 in response to a market need for alloys specific to the medical device field. While tailoring properties required for the medical market, we developed a novel approach to alloying.

Pulse’s series of alloys are ceramic-reinforced metals with the ceramics found at the grain boundaries. These ceramic clusters retard crack propagation in the material, making it stronger while still allowing some deformation to achieve a desirable yield strength.

Product category: Surface coating
Scratch-free Surface Finishes
A client’s medical device required a high tolerance ID bore and a surface free of imperfections. Utilizing our material science and machining knowledge, we customized our equipment and process to deliver on their specific need, and continually refine our technology to ensure its performance.
