Nano-copolymer Bioactive Bone Cement
NOVUS’s bone healing injection is a novel biomaterial which is engineered to perform like an ordinary cement but with controllable and variable viscosity which can be changed gradually from ultra-low to normal. The ultra-low viscosity allows the biomaterial to be applied using needle with extremely small opening, down to 0.3 mm in diameter. This allows ultimate flexibility in surgery and making minimally-invasive surgery even less invasive.

OSSFILA is a 3D printing bio-ink featuring our unique formulation of hydroxyapatite-coated nano-PMMA particles. It shares very similar mechanical property to natural bone and is adhesive with bone cells, leading to a better efficacy. This filament material will set the stage for the future of custom-printed orthopedic implants.

Our first product is a smart biomaterial which can fit into any bone defect and provide good physical support and biocompatability. This novel self-fitting bone scaffold is made of a high-performance shape memory polyurethane and modified hydroxyapatite nanoparticles. It can then be safely implanted into bone defects and induce bone regeneration, thereby enhancing recovery of bone injuries and fractures. The scaffold can be deformed, fixed and then recovered once inside the body. This is similar to a transformer that can fit into all bone defects and further grow with the natural bone.

Alongside the great opportunities in Hong Kong, NOVUS was founded in the hope of bridging the gap between universities and industries.
