Allegro®
A Fast, Simple, Capillary Blood Analyzer
Allegro is a compact, point-of-care (POC) analyzer that features a clinically important menu of 12 measured and individually selectable tests, plus 6 calculated tests. All tests are measured with disposable, ready-to-use cartridges or test strips, and are easily performed by non-technical personnel.

Allegro uses a very small capillary blood drop for all blood tests, which eliminates the need for venipunctures or a trained phlebotomist. With cartridge test times of 6 to 9 minutes and the ability to measure two cartridges simultaneously, Allegro provides rapid results. Having results during the patient visit—not after—is more effective for patient/clinician meetings; reduces office calls, letters, and follow-up visits; and improves patient compliance with care recommendations.

Point-of-Care Fingerstick Testing for Hemoglobin and Hematocrit

Only Point-of-Care (POC) Meter to Measure Both Hb and Hct
The StatStrip Hemoglobin and Hematocrit Meter System (StatStrip Hb/Hct) is the only POC system to provide anemia screening and monitoring with measured, not calculated, Hb and Hct tests. This important breakthrough is possible because of new, patented electrochemical technologies developed by Nova Biomedical. Along with tiny, fingerstick capillary samples (1.6 µL) and results in 40 seconds, StatStrip Hb/Hct improves clinical decision making at the point of care.

Accurate anemia assessment
Accurate anemia evaluation requires both measured Hct (red cell volume) and measured Hb. However, current POC meters only provide a calculated estimate of Hct.

Calculated Hct assumes a normal Hct-to-Hb relationship [Hct % = 3 x Hb (g/dL)], and is therefore inaccurate whenever Hct is abnormal.

This is particularly evident in red cell structural abnormalities, hemoglobinopathies, and hemolytic conditions caused by infection, autoimmune disease, toxins, drugs, and chemicals. These conditions necessitate measured Hct because calculated results can negatively impact treatment.

Smallest sample
StatStrip Hb/Hct’s 1.6 µL fingerstick capillary blood sample makes routine Hb and Hct testing and anemia screening virtually painless for the patient. It also enables frequent monitoring of acute patients for blood loss.

Test Menu
Stat EMS provides an important test menu for immediate patient assessment and faster, more effective emergency treatment. Stat EMS also assists with rapid triage and determining the appropriate transport site for patients with trauma, sepsis, or other specialized needs.

Glucose and Ketone
Abnormal glucose levels are frequently encountered in emergency medicine. Medical conditions that warrant pre-hospital blood glucose testing include diabetes, altered mental state, abnormal vitals, fever, illness, nausea, infection, seizure, acute coronary syndrome, organ injury, trauma, sepsis, septic shock, and burns.1-3Blood ketone testing provides rapid detection or rule-out of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), the leading cause of hospitalization and death for children with diabetes.4 The American Diabetes Association and International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes recommend blood ketone testing for people with diabetes whenever glucose is above 14 mmol/L and during illness.5,6

Lactate
Elevated blood lactate is a rapid, sensitive indicator of tissue hypoxia, sepsis, septic shock, and hypovolemic shock.7-9
In pre-hospital medicine, lactate testing provides:Early, more sensitive detection of sepsis and septic shock than vital signs alone8
Identification of patients with sepsis who might benefit from early goal-directed therapy and advanced activation of medical staff at the transport site10,11
Evaluation of trauma, critical illness, hemorrhage, acute coronary syndrome, acute respiratory failure, and chest abdominal pain11-13

BioProfile FLEX2 combines Nova’s groundbreaking MicroSensor Card™ technology with optical measurement and freezing point osmometry for an automated and comprehensive cell culture analyzer that eliminates chemistry sensor maintenance, increases analyzer speed, and reduces sample volume. The full 16 cell culture test menu includes: Gluc, Lac, Gln, Glu, NH4+, Na+, K+, Ca++, pH, PCO2, PO2, total cell density, viable cell density, viability, cell diameter, and osmolality.
