Icon-5: A smart, 5-diff solution with cutting edge technology

The Icon-5 is a smart, 5-part differential hematology analyzer that sets new standards in terms of features, functions and style. This iconic laboratory device combines cutting edge technology with a fresh and elegant design. The Icon 5 uses laser based flow cytometry with forward-scattered light detection and volumetric impedance measuring method. It provides a 26-parameter complete blood cell count report that includes RBC and PLT histograms, as wells as a 5-part WBC scattergram.

What makes this device special and innovative is its microfluidics technology that enables reagent consumption to be reduced by approximately 75% compared to other analyzers on the market. Furthermore, the Icon-5 has one of the smallest dimensions (283 x 226 x 333 mm) within its class, which allows it to be used in Emergency Departments, ICUs, private clinics, blood banks, or perhaps even in mobile care units. The Norma Icon-5 is changing the hematology landscape: there is no other analyzer like the Icon.

The Norma Autoloader is an automatic sample vial loading device that allows better workflow and improved time efficiency for your laboratory. The Autoloader is compatible with Icon-5 hematology analyzers, and what makes it a unique accessory is that it is the only retrofittable autosampler on the IVD market at the moment: you can easily install it with existing Icon-5 analyzers as well!

The Norma Autoloader is suitable for medium and big laboratories. It has a space-saving compact size, similar to the dimensions of any Icon analyzer, which can be valuable to any laboratory around the world. Norma offers the Autoloader with 2 interchangeable sample trays, each with a 50-vial sample capacity, a built-in sample mixer and a built-in barcode reader. These features will help to achieve the continuous workflow that your laboratory needs!

Icon-5 OP: a smart, 5-part diff solution with open vial sampling

The Icon-5 OP is Norma’s newest addition to its hematology product portfolio; a smart, laser-based 5-part differential hematology analyzer with open vial sampling option that inherited its predecessors elegant and award winning design. The Icon-5 OP provides a 26-parameter complete blood cell count report that includes a 5-part diff WBC scattergram, as well as RBC and PLT histograms, using the following measurement technologies: laser based forward-scattered light method for the differentiation of white blood cells (WBC), volumetric impedance method for detection of red blood cells (RBC) and photometrical method for the measurement of hemoglobin (HGB) levels.

The Icon-5 OP was primarily developed to be used in Point-of-Care (PoC) environments, such as in Intensive Care Units, Emergency Departments, GP Offices, Blood Banks or even in Mobile Care Units, because it has not only a compact size, low reagent consumption and small sampling volume processing, but it also doesn’t require any weekly maintenance action from the user. The analyzer’s open vial sampling also allows the user to get results from capillary samples as well, which makes it possibly a good fit to any pediatric clinic or department.

iVet-5: a must for all veterinary clinics

The iVet-5 is Norma’s hematology analyzer for veterinary use. This smart, laser-based 5-part differential hematology analyzer with open tube sampling mode can give precise complete cell blood count results for three animal species at the moment: dog, cat and horse. These animal profiles are continuously expending, and Norma will provide more measurement options in the future.

The iVet-5 inherited the Icon hematology family’s all excellent features:

Norma Instruments Zrt. is a Hungarian company that specialized in the designing and manufacturing of high quality and innovative blood analysis systems serving the in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) market. Since our company’s launch in 2012, Norma grew into an international company that operates in nearly 70 countries today through a well-established and well-trained distributing network.

Norma has a devoted team with many years of experience in the development, production and commercialization of laboratory diagnostic equipment. Our product range consist of hematology analyzers and reagents for human medical and veterinary use.

Our instruments can perform one of the most common hematology test, the complete blood count (CBC), a quantitative test that counts the number of various white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets in the human and animal blood. Why is it important? Because it can evaluate one’s overall state of health and is used to diagnose several disorders, including anemia, infections and leukemia. For this reason, hematology analyzers are an essential part of every laboratory worldwide.

Norma was among the first companies to utilize microfluidic technologies in the development of hematology analyzers, which allowed us to develop the smallest hematology analyzers with the smallest sample volume processing and smallest reagent consumption in the world.
