Our products
Product category: Immuno assay testing
AJ-PLAIN: Plain polystyrene particles
Polystyrene particles synthesized by emulsion polymerization with very narrow size distribution. Commonly used for physical adsorption of proteins to the surface of the particles in applications like turbidimetry, slide agglutination…
Variables
Particle size: from 50 to 2000 nm.
Cleaning process.
Uses
AJ-Plain particles are used in diagnostic applications (turbidimetry, nephelometry, slide agglutinations …), as calibration standards, colloidal models…
Examples of reference codes to identify the latexes
AJ08: Dispersion of particles with a mean particle size of 80 nm.
AJ20: Dispersion with a mean particle size of 200 nm.
AJ20-Clean: Precleaned dispersion with a mean size of 200 nm.
AJ1000: Dispersion with a mean particle size of 1000 nm.
Product category: Immuno assay testing
AJ-BIND: Functionalized polymer particles
AJ-Bind particles have functional groups covalently bounded to the surface of the particles, offering higher performance in diagnostics and other applications in which it is necessary to bind covalently the ligand to the particle surface. The surface density of the functional groups can be varied in order to modify the response of the reagent.
Carboxyl functionality (-COOH) is the most demanded functionality in diagnostic applications due to its well known coupling chemistry, which requires the use of a carbodiimide as an intermediate.
The advantage of chloromethyl groups (-CH2Cl) is that the coupling reaction can be achieved directly in one step and no intermediate steps are required (like a simple protein adsorption process on to plain polystyrene particles). Other functional groups like sulfonate (-SO3-), amino (-NH+) or other groups are available for specific uses upon request.

AJ-DYED: Dyed polymer particles
AJ-Dyed particles are intensively dyed microparticles with high uniformity in the colour. The main characteristic of these particles is that the dye is located in the particle, and leaching to the aqueous phase is not detectable.
Variables
Particle size: from 50 to 2000 nm.
Colour: red, dark blue, green, sea blue, violet…
Colour intensity: low, medium and high.
Functionality: -COOH, -CH2Cl, -SO3-, -NH+…
Parking area of the functional group: from 15 to 200 Å2/group.
Cleaning process.
Uses
AJ-Dyed particles are used in immunochromatography or slide agglutination diagnostic kits in which is necessary to magnify the Ab-Ag reaction by the inclusion of the colored dispersion.
Examples of reference codes
AJ20COOH-B: Mean particle size 200 nm. Surface carboxyl groups. Blue latex.
Product category: Immuno assay testing
AJ-FLUOR: Fluorescent particles
A fluorescent dye is incorporated in the particles in order to magnify the agglutination signal. The fluorophore (the group responsible for fluorescence) is excited to a higher energy state by an external light at a certain wavelength (λex) and after some conformational changes in the fluorescent molecule, light is emitted at a higher wavelength (λem). In practice, the presence of agglutinated fluorescent particles in diagnostic tests can be detected exciting them and measuring the intensity of the light emitted with an appropriate detector. The sensitivity of this type of detection is higher than other techniques based on absorbance, colorimetry…

IKERMAG: Superparamagnetic latex particles
IKERMAG is the trademark of IKERLAT’s magnetic particles. IKERMAG particles stand out due to their narrow particle size distribution (PSD) compared to other suppliers. It has been proven that this property plays a relevant role in avoiding problems like heterogeneities, lack of reproducibility…
In addition, IKERMAG particles feature similar binding capacity when compared to best in class reference suppliers. As a result, these particles are considered best candidates when using in CLIA, protein purification, DNA-RNA extraction…
This assertion is confirmed by the excellent feedback reported by our customers.
Like in other IKERLAT’s products we guarantee an excellent lot to lot reproducibility together with the high quality of the dispersions.
Do not hesitate to check them in your systems!
Product category: Immuno assay testing
AJ-STD: NIST traceable particle size standards
This family of products consists in polymer particle dispersions, of very narrow particle size distribution, with a characterization protocol which allows claiming their traceability to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standards.
Particle size is determined with a Disc Centrifugue Photosedimentometer (DCP) and/or Photon Correlation Spectrophotometry (PCS). NIST’s Standard Reference Materials SRM 1690 and 1691 are used to validate these devices for particle size determination. Traceability to these standards is assured through a documented unbroken chain of calibrations and verifications.
