Mediclean® UCV
Modern hospital hygiene focuses its interests in air conditioning on a limited protection zone, in which airborne germs must be excluded rigorously from operation wounds, and in which patients may continue to pose concrete dangers.

Mediclean® the first of its kind in the UK, improves patient safety and surgical outcomes by providing unique benefits to hospital designers, surgical staff and maintenance engineers.

Using air curtain technology, Mediclean® is able to constrain the air in the clean zone and separate it from the surrounding “dirty” air. It offers a patented continuous particle monitor (CPM) system which accurately measures airborne particles caused by surgical smoke or entrainment during surgery. The Mediclean® CPM system is the first in the world that allows staff to “see” how clean the air is during surgery by displaying the results in simple visual alarms.

Mediclean® is designed to be fitted completely flush to the ceiling making it easy to position operating lights, medical pendants and imaging machines without obstruction.

The Operating Theatre has been dramatically changed: Minimally invasive surgery means that more equipment has to be integrated and controlled than before, with complex audio-video solutions required, additional to Medical IT, UPS, gases, specialised carts etc.

Next-generation of surgical robots is ready to enter the market or already had. Their design has been guided by the needs of patients, surgeons and surgical teams. Surgeons expect and require equipment designed to enhance their biological abilities – enhanced vision via 4k ultraHD video, enhanced precision via robotic-assisted surgery.

It is now the task of Health Estates Managers and engineers to seamlessly and effortlessly integrate these technologies.
Health Estates Managers and Engineers are facing challenges in integrating the new technologies whilst having to build in efficiencies such as flexible use of operating theatres, instead of fixed, dedicated specialisms, all the while having to implement compliance such as HTM 06-01 in the UK and other current regulatory and recommendatory requirements, which continuously and rapidly change.

Intelligent Battery Emergency Power
for Operating Lights
Surgical luminaries are one of the critical systems
within the OR and require the highest level of power supply resilience. To ensure this each luminaire should have its own primary (mains) and secondary (battery backup) supply. In accordance with HD60364-7-710,
BS7671-2018 (18th edition) and HTM06-01:2017,
the surgical operating light must have a back up
of 3 hours.

Brandon Medical’s iBEPU system consists of:

An integrated power supply unit (PSU).
A separate battery charger.
10-year design life batteries.
High speed (static switch) changeover unit.
Modbus communication to iTCP.

The primary supply unit (PSU) will provide the lamp with power under normal operating conditions. Should the primary supply suffer a mains failure or a catastrophic component failure, then the iBEPU will switch over to its own battery supply.
Through its associated app engineers can configure, maintain and provide reporting on the battery system.
