Cancellous bone chips
Of all standard bone substitutes
morcellised cancellous bone is certainly the most used because whether alone or associated with other grafts and/or growth factors, it provides a good treatment for bone deficits in a wide range of situations.
Bioteck cancellous chips
are the ideal alternative to autologous or bank chips due to their high quality, unlimited availability and different formats, meaning that the material required is always on-hand, avoiding pointless waste and at a competitive price.
Bioteck fully deantigenated and lyophilised cancellous chips
(4 – 6 mm) are subject to complete remodelling in the patient’s bone in physiological time thanks to the process they undergo, which guarantees maximum safety and quality, without, however, altering the biological and bio-mechanical characteristics of the bone treated.
Bioteck cancellous chips
are available in formats of 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 90 cc in double sterile blister packs with a shelf life of 5 years at room temperature.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Cancellous bone block
Cancellous blocks
of various sizes and formats with a great capacity to withstand loads.
The density of cancellous bone
chosen for their production is such as to guarantee high resistance to loads without compromising a rapid integration and complete remodelling of grafts.
They can be used alone or with grafts
growth factors and autologous cell concentrates. They can also be milled and drilled to be adjusted as necessary and fixed using fixation devices.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Bio-Gen Putty
Bio-Gen putty is a cylinder of lyophilised osteoconductive bone paste
available in quantities of 2.5 and 10 cc. Simply rehydrate for a few seconds by quickly immersing in physiological solution; can also be used without rehydrating when a stronger consistency graft is required.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Flex Acetabular-Mat
The Flex acetabular-mat
is the ideal graft for the revision of acetabular prostheses in the event of moderate bond substance loss. It has specific incisions that, once implanted, make it possible to follow the curve of the metal cup, thereby guaranteeing good coverage and encouraging integration with the host bone.
The acetabular-mat is an extremely practical graft
it rehydrates in just a few minutes, is placed at the base of the duly prepared acetabular cavity after which the prosthesis can be implanted immediately.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Flexible cancellous bone sheet
Flexible cancellous sheets
are flexible and soft yet retain their structure intact.
The remodelling process is quicker thanks to the partial demineralisation and the greater exposure of the bone collagen encourages cell adhesion in addition to the absorption of local growth factors or those added to the graft.
The flexible cancellous sheets
can be used alone or associated with autologous platelet or cell concentrates in all situations where the bone healing process requires active stimulation. They can be cut to size, folded or compressed to fill defects with small access points.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Flexible cortical bone sheet
Flex cortical sheets
are flexible and soft and can be folded or rolled to reconstruct a bone wall, for example in a diaphyseal defect or acetabular base where there are severe protrusions, to substitute the quadrilateral lamina.
Despite the fact that they consist of compact cortical bone
the remodelling process can take place completely thanks to the partial demineralisation.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Biocollagen Crunch
Biocollagen Crunch
is a malleable osteoconductive bone paste formed from sponge bone granules (0.4-2 mm) in a collagen carrier with type I collagen from equine Achilles tendon and packaged into ready-for-use syringes.
Its unique composition makes it a compact
yet extremely mouldable bone past, with its high collagen content facilitating the clot formation.
It should not be mixed with other grafts
but can be an excellent vehicle for autologous cell concentrates from marrow aspiration, peripheral blood and PRP.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Activagen injectable bone paste
Activagen Injectable bone paste
is based on heterologous DBM made of demineralised equine cortical bone.
Activagen contains the signals typical of demineralised bone matrix
which directly stimulate the formation of new bone tissue. The growth factors it naturally contains are reduced to peptides (protein fragments), which although retaining their stimulation function have no antigen potential. Bioteck injectable bone paste is packaged in 5 and 10 cc ready-for-use syringes.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Angiostad
Angiostad
is an exclusive Bioteck product that contains a concentrate of molecular signals typical of the extra-cellular matrix, obtained thanks to a specific manufactoring process; these stimulate the local VEGFs, encouraging the budding of new capillaries.
In vitro studies have shown its chemotactic action on human endothelial cells.
It is a 2 cc ready to use gel.
Being an angiogenesis stimulator it must be placed between the graft and the bleeding, receiving bone surface.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Heart pericardium membrane
Heart pericardium membrane
is the new decellularised biological scaffold designed to reconstruct and strengthen soft tissues.
The Heart membrane is equine pericardium
carefully selected at collection and subsequently subjected to an exclusive Bioteck process that enables the removal of all potentially immunogenic elements, preserving the biological and biomechanical characteristics in full.
Heart is also subjected to lyophilisation
that enables it to be stored for 5 years at room temperature. Finally, it is sterilised with β rays, thereby avoiding the use of ethylene oxide or γ rays, which would affect integrity and resistance.
The manufacturing process used helps obtain an entirely biocompatible graft
with the function of inert biological “scaffold” able to best support the tissue healing process, without causing any type of reaction in the surrounding tissues. Heart patch consists of a multi-directional layered weave of type I collagen fibres that give it excellent mechanical resistance and good elasticity in all directions.
Once grafted, it acts as a matrix for fibroblast infiltration
and as a substrate for the deposit of new collagen, thereby gradually degrading and being replaced by patient connective tissue.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
Membrane Biocollagen
Biocollagen is a thin equine Achilles tendon collagen membrane
that degrades rapidly over a period of approximately 4-6 weeks; it can be used as a substitute for periosteal membrane to cover grafts.
Product category: Orthopaedic implants and prostheses
MeRG
Non-friable, microfibrillar collagen membrane.
The specific layout of the fibres, granted by an exclusive production process, makes the membrane resistant to traction, twisting and pulling. The membrane has one smooth side and another rough fibrillar side, which allows it to be fixed with fibrin sealant (and stitches where appropriate). The membrane’s adhesive properties increase with contact with blood. The membrane collagen is obtained from equine Achilles’ tendon (one of the purest sources of type I collagen). This animal is also free from risk of B.S.E.
The chemical and structural characteristics of this substance are those of a glycoprotein able to interact with the receptors of thrombocytes and fibroblasts, to enable the XII and VIII factor, and to form the basic structures of connective tissue.
The interaction of the collagen with the thrombocytes is important for blood coagulation because the link with the platelet integrins determines the de-granulation of the platelets and the release of factors enabling the coagulation cascade with the formation of the fibrin net. The fibrin net holds elements of the particulates forming the coagulation, which subsequently set to work for the chemotactic factors that induce fibroblast migration.
MeRG carries out a ‘curtain effect’ action with mesenchymal cells, preventing them from dispersing in the joint cavity. MeRG is formed from collagen fibres laid out in a net that encourages cell surface adhesion. The three-dimensional structure of MeRG eases histological repair.
Biopsies in animal testing have shown that during the histological repair process, the fibroblasts anchor to the collagen fibrils, proliferate and orientate in order to reshape the damaged tissue.
The collagen therefore encourages tissue repair.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
Cancellous bone granules
Cancellous microgranules
sized 0.5 – 1 mm, when grafted undergo complete remodelling and are replaced totally by the patient’s newly formed bone.
Enzymatic deantigenation
guarantees maximum safety and quality, without, however, altering the biological and bio-mechanical characteristics of the bone treated.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
Cancellous bone dowels
Cancellous dowels
with good capacity to withstand loads, available in diameters of 12, 14 or 16 mm.
The high density of cancellous bone
used to produce these grafts guarantees extremely high mechanical resistance.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
OX Granules
Granular bone substitutes
are the most used, traditional format. Osteoxenon granular grafts are available as different formats.
As the other Osteoxenon devices
granules maintain the presence of native collagen, main feature of the advanced line.
Granular grafts are available as cancellous granules, cortical granules or a mixture of both.
Spongy granules remodels in 4-6 months, cortical granules in 8-12 months.
Cancellous granules should be grafted
in small, 4-walls cavities. If the volume is greater and bone walls are missing, cortical granules are preferred.
The mixture has both components
and can be used for all the applications.
The surgical blister
allows handling the product according to the proper surgical room procedures.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
OX Block
OX blocks are rigid
cancellous bone blocks.
As the other Osteoxenon devices
blocks maintain the presence of native collagen, main feature of the advanced line.
Their remodeling time
is, on average, 6-8 months, depending on the anatomical conditions of the site being grafted and on the type of surgery performed.
Before being placed
they must be shaped with rotating instruments in order to guarantee the best possible contact with the patient’s bone.
Proper fixation is mandatory.
The use of a long-lasting membrane (pericardium or cortical membrane) is mandatory.
Proper flap management is necessary.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
Bio-Gen Gel granules
Granular gel bone substitutes
are a mixture of cortical-cancellous granules (Bio-Gen Mix), and water-based gel.
The standard granule size
0.5 – 1 mm is correct for most indications.
The mixture contains
spongy granules, which remodel in 4-6 months, and cortical granules that remodel in 8-12 months.
The advantage of the gel format
is the smaller probability of contamination of the graft, since the hydration step is not necessary.
Product category: Other implants and protheses
Cortical bone membrane
The cortical membrane
is a thin layer of cortical bone made flexible thanks to a proprietary demineralisation process.
The advantage of this membrane is the long protection time
histologics show it is still occlusive after 6 months from being grafted. Nonetheless it is totally remodelable, so there is no need for second surgery to remove it.
It is indicated to protect all those graft when regeneration is believed to occur slowly
(lacking of bone walls, great volume to be regenerated).
Proper fixation is mandatory
