SWISS MEDTECH is an industry association which represents the interests of the Swiss medical technology sector and is committed to providing optimal conditions for the industry. The association promotes and cultivates networking within the industry and with other relevant parties. There are now over 550 members, ranging from startups to established major international corporations.

In its capacity as an industry association, Swiss Medtech represents the interests of around 1400 companies and 58,500 employees. Medical technology is a driving force for innovation and the provision of efficient and high-quality healthcare.

Attractive conditions
The association campaigns for Swiss medical technology companies, representing its interests to politicians, the authorities and business. It advocates for unfettered access to important export markets, the efficient authorisation of and fair remuneration for medical devices, the promotion of innovations right through to market launch, and competitive conditions. Expert committees and specialist groups ensure that the existing knowledge within the member companies informs the positions taken by Swiss Medtech, and its activities.

To inform, advise and support
Swiss Medtech informs and advises its members in legal, regulatory and collective bargaining matters and supports the industry with challenging tasks, such as the implementation of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The exchange and education programme run by the MDR/IVDR Swiss Implementation Taskforce (SIT) is widely appreciated and used. This includes the annual national conference and various MDR-related events in a wide range of formats.

Swiss Medtech Day, 9 June 2020
At this, the most important major event for Swiss medical technology, Swiss Medtech brings together over 600 people, both from Switzerland and abroad. The highlight of the conference programme is always the award of the 50,000-franc prize in recognition of outstanding achievements in the Swiss medical technology sector.

The SMTI industry study, published every two years, demonstrates the economic significance of the industry and indicates challenges, risks and opportunities.
